Who we are
Travel should be a meaningful connection
Our founders grew up close to Kenya’s parks and spent years tracking wildlife as guides. We think a good safari includes the people and culture of a place as well as its animals.
Our story
The company started with a small group of Kenyan guides. Between them they had spent decades in the bush, learning the land from elders, rangers and conservationists.
After years guiding visitors for other operators, they noticed that many trips felt rushed and impersonal, with little contact with local communities.
They set up Africa Typique to do things differently. Today we still plan every safari ourselves, using the knowledge we built up as guides.

To plan tailor-made safaris that draw on local knowledge, respect wildlife and communities, and give travellers a real connection to East Africa.

Naturalists, translators and storytellers
The team is made up of experienced guides and travel planners. Many guides hold Kenya Professional Safari Guides Association (KPSGA) certification, and they explain the history, ecology and animal behaviour of each park in English or French.
