Drive north to Ol Pejeta, a private conservancy known for its conservation work, arriving for lunch. In the afternoon, visit the Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary, the only one in Kenya, then take your first game drive looking for black and white rhinos, lions, elephants and cheetahs.

A dawn game drive, then breakfast and a late-morning visit to the enclosure of the last two northern white rhinos, where rangers explain the effort to save the subspecies. Rest after lunch and head out again in the late afternoon.

Drive to Lake Naivasha, stopping at Thomson’s Falls, a 74-metre waterfall. After lunch, take a boat past hippos, pelicans and kingfishers, then walk on Crescent Island among giraffes, waterbuck and zebras. Optional: cycling in Hell’s Gate National Park.

Drive to the Maasai Mara for lunch and an afternoon game drive.

Drive to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, with an optional stop at Olduvai Gorge, where some of the oldest human fossils were found. Evening in the cool highlands.
