Nairobi Giraffe Centre Day Tour

The Giraffe Centre in the leafy suburb of Karen is run by the African Fund for Endangered Wildlife (AFEW). It breeds and protects the Rothschild’s giraffe, a subspecies that was once close to extinction.

From a raised platform you stand at eye level with the giraffes and feed them by hand. It is a relaxed, easy outing that works well for families.

Duration: Half day (about 4 hours)

Your driver-guide picks you up from your hotel and shares some Nairobi history on the drive to Karen.

At the centre you climb the feeding platform and offer pellets to the giraffes, who take them with their long tongues. Warthogs often wander the grounds, and the small education centre explains Kenya’s conservation work. You can stop for lunch nearby before we drive you back to your hotel.
